Gina Gordon’s influences, experience and training
Gina’s interest in art and design began during her childhood and education in Canada. Marriage brought her to England where she trained in garden design under John Brookes and established the design practice in 2005. A number of projects in both the UK and Canada have followed, varying both in size and scope. Amongst them:
- a small courtyard garden with an oriental feel for a house in a relatively new development
- a planting scheme to reinvigorate a neglected area of rockery within the garden of an old timber-framed building
- development of a long, narrow town garden to provide entertaining space on a French theme as well as a child-friendly play area
- sympathetic planting around a log house in northern Ontario to blend with its forested setting beside a lake
While garden design is the main focus of her work Gina also undertakes commissions to write about and photograph gardens. Her articles exploring gardens and their history have appeared in several publications including the Garden Design Journal. A passion for photography is reflected in the garden images seen here, all of which are her own.
